Mozart’s “Prussian” Quartet in D major, K. 575 glows with elegance and wit, while Mendelssohn’s F minor Quartet, Op. 80 burns with urgency and emotional intensity. Together, they frame two profoundly different sound worlds: poised classical radiance and Romantic turbulence written in the wake of personal loss.
The Isidore String Quartet, praised by The New York Times for their “youthful verve and polished assurance,” bring clarity, precision, and expressive depth to both works. Winners of the Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Isidore open the season in a program which reminds us how four instruments, in close conversation, can create both intimacy and thunder.
