The June Goldsmith Quartet-in-Residence started in the 2022–23 Season and expands upon the original vision of Music in the Morning with multiple consecutive concerts of the same program throughout a week. This “residency model” of artists being in the city for several days is how the organization has grown its audiences without sacrificing its reputation for intimate and connective performances, as well as presenting meaningful outreach to the corners of the city. The Viano Quartet holds the June Goldsmith Quartet Residency for three years and will offer an exciting recital of quartet works in the first residency week. Viano will be offering a program with rarely heard works by Florence Price and culminates with the emotionally powerful quartet “From My Life” by Bedřich Smetana.
