The Lebanese-Canadian opera star and sought-after recitalist, Miriam Khalil, is a Juno-nominated concert artist critically acclaimed for the depth of her artistry and her “signature warm lyrical voice”. She has appeared across North America and Europe, and is a winner of the prestigious Metropolitan Opera National Council scholarship. She is joined by her long-time recital partner, Julien LeBlanc, who is regularly heard on L’Espace and CBC Radio. They bring together a program of astounding breadth, which also showcases Miriam’s powerful hold on language and culture. In her program, our audiences will hear Ravel’s Shéhérazade sung in French, a work by Fernando Obradors in Spanish, Sephardic songs sung in Ladino, and other works from the Persian and Arabic traditional folk music.
