Anton Nel, winner of the first prize in the 1987 Naumburg International Piano Competition at Carnegie Hall, enjoys a remarkable and multifaceted career that has taken him throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. The Johannesburg native has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Museum and the Frick Collection in New York as a recitalist, and has performed in major concert halls in Canada, England, France, Holland, Japan, Korea, and South Africa. An active recording artist, he released three CDs in 2005, including Anton Nel in Recital.
Anton Nel’s diverse repertoire will include Beethoven’s Rondo in G Major Op.51 No.2 and Sonata in C-Sharp Minor Op 27 No.2 “Moonlight”, and Chopin’s Barcarolle in F-sharp Major Op.60, Nocturne in B Major Op 9 No.3, Mazurka in A-flat major Op.59 No.2, Fantasy— Impromptu in C-sharp Minor Op.66 and Scherzo No.4 in E major Op.54.
