June Goldsmith,
Artistic Director
|
Music in the Morning is 25 years old! Please join us to celebrate this milestone season as we bring new talent to our stage and also to enjoy the return of some of our favourite performers.
Be part of our enthusiastic audience of listeners as we enjoy the diverse programming of the Concert Series. A cup of coffee, mingling with friends, beautiful music—these are the roots of Music in the Morning. Relax with us as we listen, learn and expand our musical horizons, all before noon.
The Composers & Coffee Series this year will explore the music of Franz Joseph Haydn. Our series of talks with music is an ideal way to learn more about major figures of classical music in an informal setting.
Rush Hour at the Vancouver Art Gallery is a perfect way to experience our artists if you live or work downtown, enjoying one-hour, early-evening concerts with style and flair. Wind down your work day with a concert, or gear up for a night on the town.
Rob Kapilow returns for a fifth year with the popular Family Musik. Rob shows adults and children alike that music can be fun, with high-energy presentations that incorporate song, dance, and some classics of the repertoire. This season, we revisit the popular Green Eggs and Hamadeus, where Mozart combines with Dr. Seuss.
Be part of Music in the Morning and enjoy great music, outstanding artists and inspired commentary. I look forward to greeting you at Music in the Morning's 25th season.
Sincerely,

June Goldsmith, C.M., O.B.C.

About June Goldsmith, Founder and Artistic Director
“…the respect artistic director June Goldsmith shows for the audience in her diverse choices of imaginative challenging artists and programs—how can the series be anything but a hit?”—Muriel Kauffman, The Independent
Twenty-five years ago, June Goldsmith, a musician, music educator, and entrepreneur, founded Music in the Morning. She believed classical music that challenged, educated as well as entertained, would find a following at 10.30 in the morning. June has created a niche with her unique morning concert format, offering challenging programming to an audience which prefers its cultural experiences during the day. She has a loyal and ever-increasing following, proof of her commitment to her dream.
Goldsmith, who has a Master of Arts in music from Stanford University, is revered in the community for her willingness to share her love of music and for her support of upcoming and established artists. In November 2002, in recognition of her contribution to music, June was inducted into the British Columbia Entertainment Hall of Fame. On March 11th, 2005 in Ottawa, June received the Order of Canada for her long time contribution to music in Canada. In June 2005 she received the Order of British Columbia for her contribution to classical music in the province. In 2004, the University of British Columbia established the June Goldsmith Scholarship in Music to pay tribute to her achievements as impresario, educator and musician. She is committed to presenting a varied line-up of music from opera to ballet to chamber music, and to reaching out to all ages through performances, lectures, and commissioned works. She appears regularly on CBC Radio’s North x Northwest.
